Ice Dam Removal Service

LawnCrafters offers ice dam removal for the Mankato and surrounding areas including: St Peter, Lake Crystal and Eagle Lake, by way of low pressure steam. Low pressure steam is the only safe way to remove ice dams. Other methods such as chemical pucks, homemade ice melt socks, hammers and chisels may cause damage to your roof and may void your shingle and roof warrantees.

What is an Ice dam?

Ice dams are formed when there is a build-up of snow on the roof and inadequate attic insulation/ventilation causing the snow to melt. The melted snow then travels down the roof to eaves and overhangs. This part of the roof is cooler causing ice to form. The ice then blocks the water from falling off the roof and causes the water to back up under the shingles and leak into the attic and possibly into the home living

space. Untreated ice dams can cause more severe leaking and cause various problems from replacing sheetrock and insulation, to mold problems, and even electrical fires.

LawnCrafters offers Mankato and surrounding area residents the safe option of low pressure steam which melts through the ice and leaves no damage to the shingles or roof. This is accomplished with a trained staff utilizing a low pressure steamer system which produces 290 degree stream at only 300 psi. Compared to a common pressure washer which produces 3000 psi, you can see how much lower pressure the steam system is. The object is not to blast the ice off the roof, which could lead to roof damage, but rather to safely melt and remove chunks of ice.
